Air & Ground Source Heat Pumps:
Heat Pumps:
We service, maintain and install domestic air and ground source heat pumps. Our lead engineer Ben is experienced in both air and ground source heat pumps and can design hybrid systems linking other fuels such as oil and solid fuel.
Heat pumps use a small amount of electricity but transfer instead of creating heat, providing an efficient source of heat.
There are two types of heat pumps, air and ground. A heat pump uses a small amount of electricity but transfers heat energy instead of treating it like a traditional boiler, making it an efficient and green source of heat. Amazingly these pumps can extract heat from outside air as long as it’s above -18c.
Air source heat pumps extract heat from ambient external air through an appliance fitted to the outside of a house. The heat from the air is absorbed into a refrigerant fluid and passed through a heat exchanger to heat water. This water is in turn used to heat the domestic hot water and central systems.

The Installation Process:
Firstly, we’ll provide an estimate for the size and cost of the heat pump your property requires. To do this we’d need floor measurements and or a house plan, plus the number of rooms, construction materials and insulation, and the age of the property.
Ben then visits for a site survey so he can complete an installation quotation. If both costs are agreeable, we book a chargeable heat loss survey and start the installation process.
In 2022 the Government launched the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, (BUS), offering funding to swap fossil-fuel boilers such as oil and gas for low-carbon technologies such as heat pumps. See here to find out more.
